Kalvin Yu, M.D., FIDSA is the Vice President of Medical & Scientific Affairs, North America at BD, providing medical and scientific leadership through external engagement and research with key healthcare systems, decision makers and clinical thought leaders, while also leading BDX clinical strategy and evidence generation needs. Before Becton Dickinson, he was the Chief Integration Officer and Chief of Infectious Diseases at Southern California Kaiser Permanente where he developed and deployed hospital wide quality improvement programs across inpatient and outpatient specialties in a member population of 5 million.
Dr. Yu trained at the UCLA School of Medicine and was a former Associate Professor of Infectious Disease and Global Public Health at NYU. He continues to publish research in diverse areas including flu vaccine safety, readmissions, quality metric benchmarking and hospital acquired infections. He was a member of the CDC Antibiotic Utilization workgroup, and has been an invited speaker at IDSA, SHEA, Pew Trusts, NCVHS, PACCARB (President Advisory Council Combatting Antimicrobial Resistant Bacteria) and Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. He is a member of the SMI supply chain Physician Advisory Council and was nominated and inducted as a Fellow in the Infectious Diseases Society of America in 2020.
