Nirav Dalal is a Divisional Vice President at Abbott Medical Devices with a product portfolio in cardiac, neuromodulation, and diabetes. He is responsible for data science strategy that includes Real-World Evidence (RWE), Health Economic and Outcomes Research (HEOR), and advanced analytics and AI programs, including business intelligence, active product surveillance, and algorithms for clinical decision support.
Nirav’s extensive thirty-year journey in MedTech, combined with his deep expertise in healthcare, and comprehensive cross-functional knowledge in clinical, regulatory, and reimbursement, as well as quality, R&D, and manufacturing, has established him as a leader in the field. He has strong working relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies such as the FDA, CMS, private payers, and academia. His research focus is on applying “Big Data” and AI to deliver personalized medicine. Nirav Dalal’s academic journey includes a BS in Electrical Engineering from Pune University, an MS in Electrical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and an MBA from Pepperdine University. His scholarly contributions include over fifty peer-reviewed journal articles, conference abstracts, and US patents.
Nirav has held several positions at Abbott, including Program Manager, Director of Research, Senior Director of Health Economics and Outcomes Research, and the current role as Divisional Vice President of Global Data Science and Analytics for medical devices. In his current role, he built the Data Science function from the ground up, showcasing his strategic and operational skills by building a team on two continents.
