Ms. Luray’s extensive experience in the evaluation of real-world evidence (RWE) directly aligns with NESTcc’s mission to accelerate the development and translation of new and safe health technologies, leveraging real-world evidence, and innovative research.  Her multi-sectorial background ranges from medical device manufacturers Becton Dickinson (BD) and Abbott to working on Capitol Hill in roles such as Chief of Staff and Legislative Director.  Her current organization, Research!America, is a not-for-profit public education and advocacy alliance with over 400 members (comprised of academic institutions, patient organizations, scientific societies and industry groups,) committed to science, discovery, and innovation to achieve better health for all.

While at both BD and Abbott, Ms. Luray worked closely with regulatory and commercial teams to support a range of medical technologies used in diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring.  Her appreciation of RWE and efforts to date to expand the use of RWE includes her time at BD where she participated in industry discussions regarding the language in the 21st Century Cures Act, directing the FDA to develop a program to evaluate use of RWE.  Governing Committee Chair Dr. Michelle McMurry-Heath noted, “Jennifer’s impressive experience advocating for patient-focused innovation and access, combined with her deep understanding of federal healthcare policy, will be critical to advancing the goals of NESTcc.”

“I am excited to join such a talented and diverse Governing Committee.  I look forward to the opportunity to contribute my knowledge and experience as well as Research!America’s multi-stakeholder perspective to NESTcc’s important work on the medical device ecosystem,” said Ms. Luray of her recent confirmation.
